Void

Designed for our senior design exhibition debuting spring 2022, this collection of pieces is a series in a project titled "Void."

The prompt for this project was to create a series using only typography to enumerate type as a metaphor creating posters using only a letter, a syllable, a word, and a sentence

This fourth panel references Beatrice at Dinner (2017 movie) quoting "You think killing is hard? Try healing. You can break something in two seconds, but it can take forever to fix it."

The series begins with "void" printed in 18pt font on a 16x20in poster. This piece uses scale to draw the viewer into the poster to read the text, forcing them to move forward towards the "void."  Next, the motion of the void expanding and exploding is shown through the letter O rippling outward. It stretches to its limit in the third panel and finally collapses in on itself creating a black hole in the fourth and final panel. The black hole is created using the word "nothing" and the quote being pulled into it references the permanence of destruction.
